Hi Everyone,
I am starting out this newsletter with some sad news, Carroll Shelby has passed away at the age of 89. For anyone who ever owned a Mustang Cobra or if you're just those of us who admired them as California's original muscle car, the car wold has lost an icon. So if you're out and about this weekend and see a Shelby Cobra on the road, just give a little nod to the man who created that beautiful machine.
Now to change the mood a bit, this Sunday May 13 is Mother's Day and if you're trying to think of something to do for Mom this weekend I may have an idea for you. On Saturday May 12 is the 6th Annual Tractor & Car Show and Strawberry Festival at Cal Poly Pomona from 10am - 3pm. I recommend this event as a "fun for the whole family" show with a petting zoo, face painting and horse rides for the kids, a farmer's market, antique farm equipment and a car show for the grown ups. And of course the car show for everyone and is open to Custome, Antiques, Classics, Muscle Cars, Street Rods, Special Interest Vehicles, Motorcycles and Tractors. Also be sure to stop by the Farm Store and check out all of their great gift ideas for Mom like gift baskets, candy and flowers. And don't leave without heading over to the stawberry festival where you can pick fresh strawberries from the patch, cool off with a strawberry sno cone or take home a jar of yummy strawberry jam.
On Sunday head out to Legends Classic Diner on Route 66 in Glendora for the 15th Annual Chevelle and El Camino Appreciation Night from 3pm - 7pm presented by the Golden West Chevelles and El Camino Car Club. The show is open to all years Chevelles, Malibus and El Caminos and registration for this show is FREE. We here at CAE Performance The Speed Shop are proud to be a sponsor for this event. And on Monday May 28, Memorial Day, come out to the Bob's Big Boy in Norco for their special Monday Car Show from 2pm - 5pm. The Friends of Steve McQueen Car Show in Chino HIlls at Boy's Republic, 1907 Boys Republic Dr from 8am - 2pm. This years show is themed from from the iconic movie BULLITT. If you are interested in participating in this show the entry fee is $50, due by May 15, if you have any questions you can email them at info@stevemcqueencarshow.com
The Car Show in Acton 2012 at Thousand Trails Resort, 4700 Crown Valley Rd, Acton from 10am - 2pm. This show is presented by the Acton Chamber of Commerce as a fundraiser for their annual 4th of July Parade. The 18th Annual Inland Valley Street Rods Rally & Cruise in Downtown Ontario on Euclid Ave from 7am - 4pm. This is a fun filled show with all day cruising, plenty of food & entertainment, an open header cruise from 12 noon - 1pm and an open header contest at 1pm on C Street and live music by Duane and the Deuces.
