Ok, is it just me or is the year flying by, I mean I can't believe it's almost May!! But to look at the positive, that means that car show season is really gonna be heating up.
I'd also like to take a minute to send a THANK YOU out to Archie for sending us those great pics of his (well, his wife's) '49 Willeys Wagon. I really like this little wagon, and I bet Mrs. Archie likes it a lot too. You can see the pics on our FACEBOOK.
So let's look at what shows we've got coming up to close out April and take us into May. Also, please remember, if you have a car show, cruise event, or car club that you'd like me to promote in my newsletter, just email me at caeperformance@aol.com with all the info and I'll get the word out.
On Sunday April 29 is the big 4th Annual Spring Break Out Cruise at Bob's Big Boy in Norco, 3521 Hamner Ave from 4pm - 7pm. Where 200 of Southern California's best local Classics, Hot Rods, Street Machines and Customs gather to renew friendships and kick off the Spring cruising season. This is a Free show and will include tunes by Retro Rick and his Tune Saloon, raffles, 50/50, awards and of course the great Big Boy burgers, wonderful Chili, Spaghetti and the best EVER Hot Fudge Cakes. On Wednesday May 2 is the Twilight Cruise at the NHRA Museum in Pomona from 4pm - 8pm. For a complete list of their monthly cruise night schedule you can go to their website at www.museum.nhra.com
On Saturday May 5 is the 8th Annual Highland Avenue Auto Show in Rancho Cucamonga, 9944 Highland Ave from 9am - 2pm. For show details go to their website at www.highlandautoshow.com
Over the weekend of May 4 - 6 is the huge Riverside Show & Go in Downtown Riverside. On Friday the 4th from 4pm - 10pm is the opening night cruise and from 6pm - 10pm be sure to stop by the BBQ area. On Saturday the 5th (Cinco de Mayo) from 7am - 5pm is the main event, the Show and Go car show, the days events will include a pancake breakfast from 7am - 10am, the Grand Marshall Parade at 10:30am, an open header cruise from 11am - 4pm and an open header contest from 3pm - 4pm. The weekend wraps up on Sunday the 6th from 8am - 2pm with the Winners Parade. For more details on the weekends events go to their website at www.showandgo.org
On Saturday May 12 is the 6th Annual Tractor & Car Show and Strawberry Festival at Cal Poly Pomona from 10am - 3pm. This show is a lot of fun for the whole family. With horse rides, face painting, a petting zoo, and tractor rides for the kids and an antique farming equipment display, a farmer's market, food vendors and live music for everyone. The Car & Tractor Show will feature Customs, Antiques, Classics, Muscle Cars, Street Rods, Special Interest Vehicles, Motorcylces and of course Tractors. And for the strawberry lover in all of us the Strawberry Festival has it all, you can pick your own strawberries from the patch, enjoy lots of strawberry covered foods and even take a jar of fresh strawberry jam home for later. Now for all of you Chevelle and El Camino owners and lovers I've got a great local event for you, on Sunday May 27 the Golden West Chevelles and El Caminos Car Club presents the 15th Annual Chevelle and El Camino Appreciation Night at Legends Classic Diner, 1155 Route 66, Glendora from 3pm - 7pm. The event will feature live DJ music, great food, raffles, 50/50. Registration to participate in this show is FREE and it's open to all years of Chevelles and El Caminos. And looking towards the end of Summer I'd like to give you a "save-the-date" event. On Sunday September 23 is the 16th Annual Mustang's at the Queen Mary presented by the Beach Cities Mustang Club. Special guest this year will be Vaughn Gittin Jr. I recommend this show very highly if you love this Classic California Muscle car as much as I do then you wont want to miss this show. And with the Queen Mary and the beautiful Pacific Ocean as the shows backdrop, well, what more can I say.
