How are you lovin' this weather?? I am in heaven right now, although I understand it's going to change come this weekend, temps in the high 90's. WOW!!!!!!
I would like to take a minute and thank Scott for sharing a shout out to Andrew Porter with me. Here is the note from Scott...
"Just wanted to let you know Andrew Porter of La Verne a senior at Bonita drive his super truck to a six place finish at Sara Park in havasu . Porter a driver for Quick Pick Motorsports qualified 12th at a 16.39 on Sara parks 1/4ile oval. After 75 laps Porter finished 6th Roth his quickest lap of a 15.90. Good job Andrew Porter."

So I thought I would do this letter just a bit different, I thought I would give us some shows and events that might be out of our comfort level. Let's take a look at what's going on outside of our backyard.
First let's take a look at this local event which is very special.
On Saturday April 21 is the Premier Ford-Cobra-Shelby Reunion at the NHRA Museum in Pomona celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Cobra. Events will include a Show & Shine from 10am - 5pm, a Cobra 50th Anniversary exhibit from 10am - 5pm (these events are free with paid admission to the museum) and a banquet honoring Carroll Shelby held at the Sheraton Fairplex at 6pm, ticket are $100 per person. Over the weekend of April 20 - 22 is the largest Porsche event on the west coast for Porsche enthusiasts, the California Festival of Speed at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana. This event is FREE with $10 parking and will feature PCA club racing, PCA Enduro, time trials, a Concours d' Elegance, a vendors row, lunchtime track tours, and a historical Cars of Interest and Porsche Corrals. Over the weekend of Saturday April 21 - 22nd is the Chrysler Performance Spring Fling Mopar at Woodley Park in Van Nuys with a car show, swap meet and midway on Saturday and Sunday. 676 cars, 291 swappers, 51 manufacturer and over 9000 spectators. Spring Fling activities start on Thursday ranging from Willow Springs track day, driving cruises, coastal caravans, cruise-in. For more details you can view their flyer at www.cpwclub.com
Now this one sounds like fun, on Sunday April 29 is the 19th Annual Bob Baker Vintage Volkswagen Spring Festival at 5500 Paseo Del Norte in Carlsbad from 9am - 2pm. The show is limited to all air cooled VW's up to 1979, and will feature food, music, and raffles. For more info go to www.sdacs.com
And I'd like to give you a "save-the-date" event coming on June 2. The Acton Chamber of Commerce will be holding their Acton Car Show 4th of July Parade Fundraiser from 10am - 2pm at the Thousand Trails-Soledad Canyon Resort, 4700 Crown Valley Rd, Acton. If you would like to participate in this show, registration is going on now through May 19 for $25, you gat get more details on the show or registration at www.carshowinaction.com
