Hi Everyone,
WOO HOO!!!!!!!! It has finally cooled down, that heatwave was just CRAZY. I hope you all had a safe and fun Labor Day weekend, and now that the kids are back in school and we parents are back on a schedule let's find some fun stuff to do over the weekend.
First let's start with some things for this weekend. On Sat Sept 10th is the monthly Breakfast Cruise at Johnny Rockets in Chino Hills from 8am - 10:30am. Come out for some hot breakfast, hot tunes and hot rods, and after the show stay and do some shopping at The Shoppes in Chino Hills. Also on Sat Sept 10th is the Village Grille 50's Diner Cruise Night in downtown Claremont from 5pm - 8:30pm.
And don't forget the L A County Fair is in full swing, it runs now through Oct 2nd.
Now for what's coming up next weekend. All you girls, dust off your poodle shirts and you guys slick back your hair, jump in your favorite ride and cruise on down to one of the largest shows of the year, the 22nd Annual Route 66 Rendezvous in downtown San Bernardino, Thurs Sept 15th - Sun Sept 18th. The events hours are; Thurs and Fri 6pm - 10pm, Sat 10am - 9pm, and Sun 10am 4pm. This years show will feature over 1,700 Classic, Customs, Trucks, Muscle Cars, and Corvettes and will encompass 35 blocks in downtown. Some of the shows highlights this year will be (besides the cars, of course) will be a neon lights contest on Fri night, on Sat there will be a Pinewood Derby put on by local Boy Scouts, an open header contest and a model car contest. Some of the featured entertainment will be 50's icons Chuck Berry performing on Fri the 16th, and Chubby Checker headlining on Sat the 17th, the Barenaked Ladies will be performing on Sun the 18th and the Fab Four (the Beatles cover band) will take the stage on Sat night the 17th, among many other bands. Also, don't miss "American Grafitti" star Paul Le Mat signing autographs during the event.
On Sun Sept 18th the Beach Cities Mustang Club will hold their 15th Annual Mustang & Ford People's Choice Car Show, Mustangs At The Queen Mary. If you are a fan of the classic California muscle car then this is the show for you, and the location is a bonus. These symbles of American made power with the majestic Queen Mary and shimmering Pacific Ocean as their backdrop, do not miss this show.
Please remember, if you have a show, cruise, race or event coming up, I would be happy to include it in my weekly newsletter, so just email me with all the info and I'll get it out there to everyone.
Now may I ask you all, on Sunday Sept 11th, please take a moment, what ever you are doing, and pause in honor of the men, women and children who lost their lives 10 years ago today. I will be visiting my local fire dept where they have a 9/11 memorial set up and I will take that opportunity to thank them for their service and sacrifice. Thank you.
