Well, if you believe the weather reports the saying "batten down the hatches" is appropriate for this weekend, so drive safely and try and stay dry. I do have a weather related show postponement, the Norco High School Blue Diamond Brigade Car Show that was scheduled for this Sat Feb 19th will now be held on Sat Feb 26th. It might not be so bad that the weather will be bad this weekend because the Daytona 500 will be run this Sun Feb 20th on FOX starting at 9am and I'm sure there will be lots of hype on Sat leading up to the big race. We have some big this happening this coming up weekend so let's hope for this storm to be a "hit & split".
The 51st Annual NHRA Winternationals will run Thurs Feb 24th - Sun Feb 27 at the Auto Club Raceway in Pomona. The event will feature a tribute to Don "The Snake" Prudhomme with the "Snake Pit" which will include race cars from the legendary drivers career, an autograph session and for the 1st time ever Top Eliminator Club members will have the opportunity to walk the historic Pomona drag strip with the "Snake" himself on Sun Feb 27th. Ticket prices for the event are Thurs Feb 24th..Adults $25 and Juniors (6-12) $10; Fri Feb 25th..Adults $30, Juniors (6-12) $10, Adult Reserved $40, Juniors Reserved $15, Children 5 & under $10; Sat Feb 26th & Sun Feb 27th..Adults $50, Juniors (6-12) $10, Adult Reserved $62, Juniors Reserved $20, Children 5 & under $10.
These are online purchase prices, single day ticket prices increase $3 at the gate the day of the event, to purchase online go to NHRATIX.com. Also multiple day ticket prices are Top Eliminator Club $325, 4 Day Reserved (available by phone only) $150 and 4 Day General $130. I've gone to this event before and it's is a real experience, you've got the great atmosphere of the Palm Springs desert and a group of the most beautiful and extravagant cars that you could possibly imagine and to walk around and take in all the sites with a glass of champagne in one hand and a plate of fruit and cheese & crackers in the other....it doesn't get any better than that, and if you make a weekend out of it that would be the best.
