Hi Everyone,
Well here we are, just days away from the first day of Fall and I'm really looking forward to the change. I have to admit that I think Autumn and Spring are the nicest times of the year, the weather just seems to be the best and no matter what anyone says, California does have seasons and I like watching the leaves change. We also get those great themed car shows like the pumpkin patch show, the harvest shows and, of course, all the holiday shows. But let's get to what's going on this weekend. O Fri Sept 24th - Sun Sept 26th is the Long Beach Motorama featuring The Showcase of Kustoms. This show is a modern indoor and outdoor Car Show & Cruise which started over 37 years ago and is held on 20+ acres of grassy waterfront with the Queen Mary, Aquarium of the Pacific and our beautiful Pacific Ocean as it's backdrop. On Sat Sept 25th and Sun Sept 26th is the 13th Annual Fleet Week Coronado Speed Festival "THE RACE TO THE BASE" from 8am - 5pm. There are 9 races scheduled for this weekend ranging from 1952-1959 Sports and Production Cars to Historic NASCAR. On Sat Sept 25th The Worlds Largest One Day Charity Car Show supporting CITY OF HOPE'S Prostate Cancer Program the 11th Annual Cruisin' For A Cure will be held at the O C Fair & Events Center in Costa Mesa. The show will feature over 3400 Custom, Classic and Late Model, Hot Rods and Trucks, 4 buildings with over 200 vendors and exhibitors, a 1 1/2 cruise route and live music all day. Also on Sat Sept 25th the Kling For A Cure Leukemia Benefit Festival will be held at Uplands Memorial Park, 1100 E Foothill Blvd from 10am - 6pm. Open to Custom Cars & Motorcycles, skate the pipe with KTS Skate Team, BBQ lunch (with donation), raffles, a silent auction, bake sale, arts & crafts and live music all day. On Sun Sept 26th Come to the Bob's Big Boy at 3521 Hamner Ave in Norco for the Dezert Toys At Big Boys Off Road Show from 2pm - 5pm, the show will include prizes, raffles, and the Best In Show winner will be featured in OFF ROAD MAGAZINE, and $10 from registration goes to Clean Dezert. Also on Sept 26th the 1st Annual Police K9 Classic Car Show will be held at Summit Career College, 1250 E Cooley Dr in Colton. Along with the car show there will also be live Colton Police K9 demonstration, Police & Fire vehicles & equipment, music & entertainment, jumpers, face painting and balloons for the kids, food & refreshments. Now, on a sad note, many of you are familiar with the monthly cruise night that is held in downtown Claremont at The Village Grille, well we just found out that the Oct 9th date will be the last, ever. We here at THE SPEED SHOP are very saddened to see that show stop, we like to be able to promote local shows and love to see our customers in the show environment, so I'd like to put a call out to everyone to come out for the Oct 9th show and give their thanks to Sandy at The Village Grille for keeping this show going even after her husband had past away. Let's make her last show her biggest and best! I'd also like to remind everyone if you are involved in putting on a show please be sure to stop by and give us your shows flyers so we can promote your event to our counter customers. Also if you are involved in a car club please email me so I can get your club listed on our website, we have an entire section dedicated to CAR CLUBS. I know that you all are busier now that vacations are over, the kids are back in school, and the holidays are right around the corner, but I hope you can make time to get out and enjoy one of these shows, and you never know I just might see you out there. - Tamie @ THE SPEED SHOP |
