Hi Everyone,
Here we are, entering into October, but I hope you all didn't put your shorts and sunscreen away and it seems like we're gonna need them for a while longer. I'd like to get right into things with a "save-the-date" for all of you race fans out there, the Automobile Club of Southern Califrornia presents the 19th California Hot Rod Reunion, which is produced by and benefiting the NHRA Museum here in Pomona. This years event will be held Oct 15th - 17th at the Auto Club Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, Ca. Also NASCAR returns to California Oct 8th - 10th at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, with the NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup qualifying day on the 8th, the CampingWorld.com 300 on the 9th, and the Pepsi Max 400 on the 10th. On Wed Oct 6th the NHRA Museums monthly Twilight Cruise resumes from 4pm - 8pm, the first Wed of the month. A very exciting event this weekend is the OC Auto Show at the Anaheim Convention Center, 800 West Katella Ave. Event times will be Thur Oct 7th 4pm - 10pm, Fri Oct 8th 12 noon - 10pm, Sat Oct 9th 9am - 10pm and Sun Oct 10th 9am - 7pm, and admission will be Adults $10 (13+), Seniors $6 (62+), Students (w/ID) $5 and Children (12 & under) Free. Special attractions for the event will include; Fri starting at 7pm the Hooters Girls will compete for the title of Miss OC Auto Show, Fri between 2pm - 4pm stop by the 93.1 JACK FM booth and meet members of The Lakers Girls sqaud, Sat starting at 2:30pm there will be a Hooters wings eating contest, Sat between 2pm - 4pm stop by the 95.5 KLOS FM booth and meet the Rocker Girls, Sun from 12 noon - 6pm be apart of a live promo shoot for the SPEED channels BATTLE OF THE SUPERCARS show with an appearance by Lee Reherman (THE HAWK from American Gladiator), Sun between 11am - 1:30pm meet Spiderman and 2:30pm - 5pm meet Iron Man. See various music and sports celebrities tricked out cars featured by DUB magazine, get a sneak peek at Black Beauty, the automotive star from the upcoming THE GREEN HORNET movie, coming to theaters Jan 14,2011, relax in the RPM Lounge surrounded by a collection of high-end exotic and luxury cars, and let's not forget all of the great new cars on display. On Oct 8th and 9th the Temecula Fall Rod Run, only Pre-1974 cars. Fri Oct 8th will be a night cruise from 5pm - 8:30pm and Sat Oct 9th an all day Show and Shine from 8am - 4pm. On Sat Oct 9th is the 1st Annual Car & Bike Show at the Omomar Silkscreen store at 4475 Eucalyptus Ave Chino from 8am - 3pm, all proceeds will go tobenefit the Scouts of local Boy Scout Troop 309 Chino. The show is open to all Customs, Classics, Antiques, Muscle Cars, Street Rods, Rat Rods, Motorcycles, Choppers, Bobbers, Lowriders, Trucks, Under Construction and Special Interest. They will also have food, music and raffles throughout the show. On Sat Oct 9th the Village Grille in Claremont will hold the cruise night, this could possibly be the last one so I will ask anyone who would like to show their support and a show that's been around for 20 years to come out with your car, maybe we can show that this event should continue, it is held in downtown Claremont from 5pm - 8pm. There will also be a Car Show held at the Applebee's at 521 N McKinley in Corona from 3pm - 6pm, this event is held the 2nd Sat each month. I would like to thank Don Dexter and Tom Leslie for bring to my attention a couple of shows coming this month that I didn't have listed, they are the Memorial Park Car Show on Oct 24th in Upland presented by the Early Ford V8 Club Baldy View Regional Group #88 and the Golden West Chevelle and El Caminos Club presents the Fall Harvest Cruise to benefit Cable Airport in Upland on Oct 24th. We have a lot of great shows coming up this month with a harvest theme and when the weather decides to cooperate more it will really be nice to move into the Autumn season.
