Hi Everyone,
I'd first like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and I hope you found exactly what you wanted under your tree or in you stocking. I've got some great events coming up for you to help you start 2011 in the fast lane. Thurs Dec 30th - Sun Jan 2nd the San Diego International Auto Show rolls into town, "Where the CARS are the STARS", the show will feature hundreds of new-model vehicles, classics and exotics, a salute to classic VW buses, 5 decades of Mustangs, an art sculpture exhibit made from old car parts. On Thurs Dec 30th, opening day, see the BMX PROS Trick Team perform amazing choreographed stunts both in the air and on the ground. The features returning favorites like the JEEP Rocks & Road Tour, complete with a rock wall and the new Camp JEEP for kids, and the ECO-Center showcasing the latest fuel-saving and environmentally-friendly technologies.
On Sun Jan 2nd is Mazda Family Day, kids 12 and under get in FREE with a paying adult, and there will be activities and fun for kids of all ages. Ronald McDonald will be there to entertain kids and grown ups alike, and come and enjoy the Mazda Gaming Experience featuring Gran Turismo 5 and other exciting games. The show will be held at the San Diego Convention Center at 111 W Harbor Dr, San Diego, 92101, show times are Thurs 12/30 10am - 9pm, Fri 12/31 10am - 7pm, Sat 1/1 10am - 9pm, and Sun 1/2 10am - 7pm. On Dec 31st the OC Fair at 88 Fair Dr, Costa Mesa, 92626 presents New Year's Eve Block Party from 7pm - 2am, featuring live tribute bands by the decades from the 60's to the 90's, plus DJ's and Karaoke, 50+ gourmet food trucks, free carnival rides, and 2 demolition derbys. The 1960's stage will be hosted by Brian Beirne "Mr Rock N Roll", the 1970's stage will be hosted by "Uncle Joe" Benson, the 1980's stage will be hosted by Richard Blade and the 1990's stage will be hosted by Rita Wilde.
At the Action Sports Arena starting at 8pm come and enjoy the "Run What You Brung" Derby with a purse of $2500 to the winner and the "New Year's Eve Bash" Taxi Cab Derby with a purse of $5000 to the winner **an additional is required for the derby**. Come and see Comedy Hypnotist Mark Yuzuik with shows at 7:45pm, 9:15pm and 10:45pm. Some of the foods featured will be Shortstop BBQ, Crepe Bonaparte, Tokayaki TANOTA, Kona Ice Beach Cities, Piaggio Gourmet on Wheels, Ragin' Cajun on Wheels, Shrimp Pimp, The Surfer Taco, Bacon Mania, The Burnt Truck, Rolling Sushi Van, and many, many others. General Admission is $35 (block party only), Demolition Derby General Admission Package $40 (block party & New Years Bash derby), Demolition Derby Reserved Seating Package $45 (block party & News Year's Bash derby), VIP Block Party $75 ( general admission to block party..not parking, VIP private lounge & cash bar, reception 6pm-7pm with complimentary cocktails & food truck sampling, meet & greet with selected performers, and VIP party favors), General Admission Parking $10 and Preferred Parking $20. On Jan 1st - Jan 2nd come out and see the 3rd Annual New Year's Bracket Bash presented by Pacific High Reach at the Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, gates open at 6am and races start at 8am. Sat Jan 1st purses are $3500 for the winner and $1500 for the runner-up in each class; Sun Jan 2nd purses are $1500 for the winner and $750 for the runner-up in each class.
The prices are Car/Driver $150 (for the weekend) or $100 (per day), Crew $25 (for the weekend) or $15 (per day), and Spectaters $10 (per day). So any one of these events really sound like a fun way to ring in your New Year or to continue your New Year's Eve celebrations.
