  Hi Everyone,

Well I hope you all are enjoying this very comfortable summer we've had and now that we start turning our attention to Autum is anyone else wondering if we're going to have the classic California "Indian Summer" where things start to heat up. I hope not because I for one have been very thankful for these cooler summer days, it certainly makes these weekend shows much more enjoyable, and speaking of shows, let's do a "save-the-date" for a great show coming up in Sept. On Sun Sept 19th the Beach Cities Mustang Club presents their 14th Annual Mustangs at the Queen Mary in Long Beach, this is a beautiful location to come and check out one of the most popular "California Classic Muscle Cars". Now for what's coming up now...On Sat Aug 21st the Wrightwood Chamber of Commerce presents the 16th Annual Mountain Classic Car Show in Wrightwood from 10am - 4pm and the show is open to all Pre-1973 American made Rods, Customs, Classics, Muscle Cars and Trucks. The show will include a vendor village, live music, food and great drawings. There will also be an open header contest, "Pit Alley" featuring exhibitions, cars, live music, food and Trike drags. I have attended this show many times before and it's AWESOME...it's a large show throughout a cute village surrounded by the pine trees in the mountains. When you stand at the top of the street you get a breathe taking view of the mountains below, and they seem to always have at least one very unique car there that really draws a crowd, a couple of years ago it was the car from Mad Max and the year before that they had Joan Crawfords car. I would highly recommend making a weekend out of this show. A really fun show is the Lowdown on Sat Aug 21st at Cable Airport in Upland from 12noon - 8pm. The show will feature Pre-1970 cars including Traditional Rods, Hot Rods, Rat Rods, Gassers, Drag Cars and Bombs. There will also be DJ music by DJ Celeste and the bands BARREL HOUSE BOYS, CAPT JEFF AND HIS MUSICAL CHUMBUCKETS, THE FORTY FOURS AND HOBO JAZZ. On Sat Aug 21st the 4th Annual Be-boppin' in the Park Vintage Car Show & Festival will be held in Magnolia Park in Burbank from 3pm - 9pm. This event will be 4 blocks of live music, great food, exhibitors and cool prizes, and includes Pre-1972 Classic, Modified, Muscle Cars as well as Motorcycles and Trucks. On Sat Aug 21st the Fly & Drive Car show will be held at the historic FLABOB Airport at 4130 Mennes in Riverside from 9am - 12noon. The show is open for all Classics, Hot Rods and Trucks and will also have Antique and Experiemental Aircraft on display. While you're there be sure to stop visit the FLABOB Airport Cafe for the "Best Breakfast In Town". On Sat Aug 21st is the 10th Annual Woodies at the Beach at the West Campus at Santa Barbara City College from 9am -3pm and will feature raffles and a silent auction. On Sun Aug 22nd the Enderle Center in Tustin will hold a Classic Car Show from 9am - 3pm and is open to all Pre-1975's and Specialty vehicles, this is a fun for the whole family show with music, entertainment, drawings, face painting, balloon artists and cartoonists. The Enderle Center is at the 55 freeway and East 17th street. Well I hope you get a chance to take in one of these great shows, the show season will be starting to wind down soon and our focuses will be turning to other things, but while we've got this great weather let's get out there..and you never know you just might bump into me.
